Open Letter from Tom & Delores

“Two emotionally powerful!”  “Too explosive!”  “Too controversial!”

An Open Letter from Tom Laughlin and Delores Taylor

We need your help!  And by helping us, we in turn will help you.  Significantly!

We are about to create a revolution in the way pictures are financed and produced in the motion picture industry, just as we did in 1974 when we created a radical revolution in distribution, and fundamentally changed the way pictures are marketed and distributed.

Before our revolutionary change in the way films were distributed, major studio films were very lucky to do $25-$35 million domestically.  With our radical and extremely controversial change, instead of the studio opening a film in only one downtown theater per major city, 50-75 prints in all, we invented the “open wide” mega-multiple blitzkrieg ad marketing campaign, and opened The Trial of Billy Jack in over 1200 theaters on the same day and date, being the first to ever buy national TV and radio commercials, synchronizing full page ads and billboards with the opening, making it possible for pictures that were lucky to do $25-$35 million domestically to - for the first time ever - easily do $100, $200, $300 million, even $600-$700 million US alone, and $1, $1.5 to $2 billion worldwide.

The Trial of Billy Jack did over $30 million in less than 30 days, when less than two dozen films had ever grossed $30 million in their lifetime – and at a time tickets were $.75-$1.00 and there were 100 million less people in the United States.

The discovery of a revolutionary new way to finance pictures and TV shows

Now we are about to create the same revolution in the way pictures are financed and produced by fundamentally and radically changing the way films are financed - opening the possibility to filmmakers everywhere to be able to make a picture they think people want to see, ending the current state whereby the only way a filmmaker can get financed is through a studio, or a hedge-type investment fund, who for the most part finance films that are preponderantly sexual, blood-thirsty violent and computer graphic video games and comic books.

The first picture to be made with this new method of financing is our brand new, 2010 Billy Jack sequel, Billy Jack & Jean, which we believe is going to be the most emotionally powerful, explosive social and political reform – very controversial – picture ever made.

In fact, we are going so far as to promise you it will not only be a sequel unlike any ever made, it will be a film unlike any ever made – a film that is so powerful studios are afraid to make it – even though, for over a decade, virtually every studio has aggressively sought to make a new Billy Jack film.  Instead, because of the explosive nature of the sequel we want to make, they all tried to talk us into doing a remake of the original Billy Jack.

They forget that, while the wrong kind of controversy is death at the box office, the right kind of controversy is pure gold – and with our new Billy Jack sequel we have the perfect kind of box office gold controversy – with polls taken by both conservative and liberal pollsters, from the Wall Street Journal to NBC and the Washington Post, showing that at least over 80-93% of the people polled want to see the reforms we advocate in our picture.

Our response to making a remake?

Why?  Why not use the latest technology and make a new re-digitized print of the Original, and re-release it this summer, using our new discovery of Royalty Financing to do it?   Which is exactly what we are going to do.  (See below)

Instead, through our new Royalty Financing method, we are – with your help - going to make a true – real – Billy Jack sequel film, filled with the morality, spirituality and psychology that made Billy Jack so unique, instead of the sequel the studios wanted us to make, which was use the Billy Jack name and make it a hybrid of touches of the Billy Jack spirituality, overloaded with the mindless violence and sexuality of the bloody action video games the studios produce today.

One studio went to so far as to pay an A-list writer $1.25 million to write a remake which was filled with scenes of Jean making gross sexual remarks.

With our new revolutionary way to finance films, we are going to return the power to make films back to filmmakers, people who had the daring and the courage to make The Blind Side, Precious and The Hurt Locker … three Oscar nominated pictures … yet three pictures no studio would ever make.

The Billy Jack TV series

Not only are we going to use this new financing method to make our Billy Jack sequel, we’re going to use this new method of financing to produce an equally exciting Billy Jack TV series, a TV series that networks and cable companies have been trying to get us to make for decades.

Only with this new independent financing we can – just like the sequel – make it into a TV series unlike any ever made, filled with all the emotional and inspiring power, the unique spirituality and morality that belongs only to Billy Jack & Jean.
